Gebana Burkina Faso is a limited liability company (SARL) that purchases, processes, and markets dried mangoes and cashew nuts, exclusively with organic certification and partially with Fair Trade certification. Based in Bobo-Dioulasso, Gebana began its dried mango marketing activities in 2000 through its parent company (Gebana AG) and its cashew processing activities with the construction of a processing plant in 2010.
Burkina Faso is heavily dependent on agriculture, which employs nearly 80% of the active population. However, the sector is significantly impacted by several crises—particularly security and climate-related—which affect the country and specifically increase the vulnerability of small-scale producers.
Gebana Burkina Faso has a very strong social utility. The company offers stable, high-value-added market outlets to more than 3,000 cashew and mango producers. Furthermore, Gebana has voluntarily chosen to maintain manual processing sites to create jobs, making it one of the largest employers in Bobo-Dioulasso.
