Bioprotect

Burkina Faso
Sustainable agricultural sectors
Partner description

Bioprotect is an SME that seeks to develop and promote the organic market in Burkina Faso using a systemic approach, by involving itself in both the supply and demand for organic agricultural products. This approach consists of two pillars: (1) enabling producers to farm organically through training provided by Bioprotect teams and the sale of biopesticides and bio-fertilizers derived from the company’s Research & Development; (2) adding value to organic products through the marketing of market garden produce and sesame, among others.

Country and/or business sector context

Burkina Faso is heavily dependent on agriculture, which employs nearly 80% of the active population. However, the sector is significantly impacted by several crises—particularly security and climate-related—which affect the country and specifically increase the vulnerability of small-scale producers.

Partner impact

With its approach combining training, input supply, and the enhancement of production value, Bioprotect seeks to best meet the needs of producers. This approach creates a virtuous dynamic that encourages producers to adopt more sustainable agriculture and contributes to the democratization of organic farming in Burkina Faso. Within this context, the company has set a goal to work with 10,000 producers by 2030.
