Al Amana is Morocco’s leading microcredit institution (MFI) in terms of the number of borrowers. It has a network of 640 sales outlets throughout the country and 2,415 employees.
The year 2023 remains a difficult one for Morocco: double-digit inflation, lingering effects of the Covid crisis, and a climate crisis that has led to a decline in agricultural value-added, job losses, and increased agricultural precariousness, particularly among women, youth, and vulnerable populations. Morocco has 12 microfinance institutions (MFIs), four of which occupy 95% of the market. Attadamoune is among the medium-sized MFIs.
Al Amana Microfinance’s mission is to contribute to Morocco’s economic and social development through the financial inclusion of people excluded from the traditional financial system. Its impact in terms of financial inclusion is marked by its mixed rural and semi-rural positioning, its activity essentially focused on providing IGAs, and its clientele focused on women and young people.
